ORLY Sheer Pêche and a plush turnip

TGIF everyone! It’s been a while since I did a good nail entry, so today I have photos and a review of ORLY Sheer Pêche. Over the holidays I went “home” to see my family, which is a place that’s much more suburb-y than where I live now. There’s a lot of stuff to do in cities, but there are just some nice things about the suburbs. Like, prices are lower, selection is bigger, free parking, and things I want aren’t perpetually sold out! I went to Bed Bath and Beyond with my mom since she needed curtains, and discovered the beauty section there. I think I just about died and went to heaven (OK, so that’s a slight exaggeration). I’ve been on a peach kick lately, and was inspired to get a peach-toned polish after seeing Chanel’s spring 2011 collection. I saw this one out of the corner of my eye, and had to take it home with me!

I love the name Sheer Pêche, it just sounds so pretty. It’s pretty accurate too. This was the first time I’ve seen an ORLY bottle with a gold-colored cap. I think it’s to designate a sheer “French manicure” type polish. In the store, there was already some separation of the color, so I knew it probably had been sitting for a while. However, the application was like a dream. There was no streaking whatsoever! I put on two coats for the picture below, but one coat or three coats would look good as well. I didn’t use a base coat or top coat, so of course there was tip wear, but otherwise no chipping. I didn’t know that ORLY had such great formula. Or maybe I’m just delusional because I haven’t applied polish a lot this winter. Anyhow, the color is as the name suggests, it’s a sheer milky peach with very subtle shimmer. You can see some in the picture below, however the shimmer is readily apparent only up close. From afar it looks like a pretty, glossy manicure. Which, in my opinion, is perfect!

And on a final note, ORLY is PETA caring consumer approved, which means cruelty free!

And about the plush turnip. I’m not actually sure it’s a turnip, but that’s my best guess. It’s a super-cute Christmas gift from my good friend. Despite not being a cutesy type person, I find that I always have cute things thanks to my friends. And this makes me happy.  How can one not be happy when in the presence of a blushing turnip? I’ve included the original label below, so maybe some Japanese-readers can help me out. Or maybe I should just stay happy thinking it’s a turnip.

In other life, my phone line finally was activated. I’m an old fogey at heart and love landlines, so this put me in a really good mood. Now I can yap as much I please on speaker phone, instead of yelling into my cell phone. Now, it’s just a countdown until the 12th when our internet is supposed to be activated and I can go blog crazy. Til then…

Have a great weekend!
