Odds and ends

I hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving last week! It's been a couple weeks, but the prodigal blogger has returned. I had a wonderful thanksgiving with family. I stuffed myself as if I was preparing for hibernation. I'm still thinking about a certain mini pecan pie... I also attended the beautiful wedding of a good friend who I hadn't seen in a long time.

When I traveled out of town I thought it would be easy to rely on my family's camera and laptop. I brought only an iPad to keep up with blogger. However, I found that straying outside my usual setup and location threw me off. I'm definitely a creature of habit. For the same reason, I normally travel with a caravan's worth of goods. The phone pictures in this entry were taken while I was packing to leave. Normally I will pile all my makeup and jewelry together before organizing them neatly into pouches and bags. Some of the items featured include NARS Sheer Glow in Deauville, a red necklace made by my mother, NARS Mandchourie eyeshadow duo, CHANEL Graphite nail polish, LUSH It's Raining Men shower gel, and a MAKE UP FOR EVER Kabuki brush, amongst many other things. The little sample containers in the last picture are samples of foundation I made for my mom.

It's good to be back. I'm working on getting back into my usual routine, which should include blogging! I have a tube of MAC Creme D'Nude lipstick from fellow blogger Kelly of Kelly's Makeup Bag that waiting to be photographed. In the meantime, some current obsessions include:

The Revlon lip butters at don't call me Jessie
MAC Iris Apfel promo photos on Glitter.Gloss.Garbage
Dior Silver Lake nail polish at Makeup Magpie
Chanel Dragon Rouge Allure Laque on Getting Cheeky
The beautybloggers.org auction - there are a number of bid-worthy items catching my eye!

Love, Dovey.

  1. Thanks for the mention! I finally spotted the full Revlon lip butter display at a CVS (it was one located in a mall - I never thought to check that one!). I think I've got all the shades I want now, though - but MAN, they are so many good ones!!

  2. Ugh, "they" = "there" -- late-night typos! >_<

  5. Glad you had a good time! It's nice to travel for the holidays, even if airports are crazy!

I like to organize my jewelry in pouches, too. I usually only ever travel with extra earrings (besides my engagement ring, which I wear all the time), so then I just throw them in a jumble into one pouch, lol. Oh well.

  6. Glad you're back, Dovey! I've been sidelined a bit myself lately. I'm intrigued by that red necklace your mom made! What do you wear it with?

  7. So happy to have you back, Dovey! It's just not the same around here without you :)
(Thank you for the shout out!!)

I completely know what you mean about feeling thrown off by a new routine. Reading blogs just doesn't feel the same when you're not cuddled up in your usual nest with the usual suspects (in my case my trusty lap top and tea).

  8. How is it possible for even your phone pictures to look superior to a lot of regular camera pics???

And now you have me dreaming of a freshly baked pecan pie. :)

Can't wait for your posts! xoxo

  10. Don't call me Jessie - AH, I want one (or two or three) so badly. I'm going to scour some stores soon =)

    Jamilla & SMHL- Thanks =)

Larie- I'm still trying to find a good way to travel with jewelry. I'm always afraid something is going to slip out =)

Sarah- the red goes with almost anything, but I suppose more simple and neutral/minimalist colors would work best!

Jessica- nest is quite the perfect term. I have my cup of tea right next to me =)

Liz- LOL, thank you! Now I'm reminded of the pie again too...

Makeup Magpie - thanks! It was very nice, but it's good to be back.
