Brunch and Blogs

This weekend Mr. Lovey and I went out for brunch at an natural / organic-y restaurant. There was a artsy vibe with large modern art pieces and small jewelry displays for sale on the walls. The music was funky (think Gorrilaz). Mr. Lovey started with a cup of blueberry rooibos tea. It was aromatic and delicious.

The wait staff made a mistake and served us soup from another couple's order. They couldn't take it back, so we were the lucky benefactors. When life hands you free soup, it is your job to enjoy it!

Here's brunch from my point of view. I had a nice large glass of grapefruit juice to accompany my biscuits with duck confit gravy. If you grew up anywhere remotely near the south, could you resist biscuits and gravy? The biscuits were topped with two sunny-side-up eggs.

In the spirit of brunch and blogs, I'm offering up a menu of blog posts that have me feeling sunny-side-up this week:

Getting Cheeky shares a Great Gatsby inspired post. It's a must-read just like the book.
Bloomin' beauty shares her ambition (more specifically Illamasqua blush in ambition). I'm entranced.
Beauty reductionista makes me laugh. Here's 7 things you should know about her.
Makeup Magpie shares a sneak peek of her NARS picks. I want to see more!
Steal My Heart Lovee shares a lovely top 11 of '11. It's a whole list of excellent products.
Everyday beauty posts on aging. There is a sexy librarian poster in the mix...
Product Doctor had a makeover done by Edward Bess himself. Lucky lady!
Eye Heart It has a memorable and beautiful golden smoky eye-of-the-day.

Thanks for reading, and Happy Chinese New Year! It's the year of the Dragon, which sounds pretty fearsome. What have you eaten lately? What have you hauled lately?

Love, Dovey.

  1. It all looks so delish! thanks for the post!

  2. The food looks so good :D Yay and free soup! I love the way they steep the tea :) It's my favorite thing for brunch!

    1. Awww, thanks. Come back and comment again. Just don't leave the links, lol. ;)

  4. The food looks delicious. I've never had blueberry tea, I must try it.

Thanks for sharing my link. <3

  5. This looks yummy! And I agree, who could resist biscuits and gravy? lol

  6. Thanks for the linkback, love Dovey! Let's just hope Sexy Librarian landed sunny side up and didn't squash the girls. It was so sweet of your table's pedestal to match your boots. Or are those black boots basking in the blue glow?

My eats are boring lately. Mr. Petal's works at night, so I am usually on my own and feeling uninspired. Dinner tonight will be a few Kame rice crackers topped with ripened blue cheese and hot pepper jelly accompanied by a very small glass of ruby port. Any more booze than that, and I'll be able to come back and make a haul report, lol.

    1. LOL!

Sadly, the boots are black--- but they did emit a bluish glow. I think it was partly due to some salt from the snowy street :) Blue cheese and hot pepper jelly and port sounds delicious! I sometimes do the same thing. If I'm by myself I resort to tasty bites or even junk food, eep.

  7. I LOOOOOOOVE brunch! Should have mentioned that in the 7 things... but then I kind of love all food and meals. :X That duck confit gravy sounds especially intriguing.

Thanks for the shout-out, Dovey! I also enjoyed many of the posts you linked. :)

    1. Perhaps there can be a next 7 things? Brunch is definitely worthy of such a list!

  8. Ahw I love this post! Thank you for the shout out, Dovey!

  10. Aww, thanks for the shout out! Love the idea of this post! Brunch and blogs are 2 amazing things and combined, it's lovely! :)

  11. Yum blueberry roobois tea...I just hauled lots of body and hand moisturizers to fight the dryness in wintry Tokyo...Just practical stuff ;-)

  12. Eeeee, I love brunch! We're going out for a fancy brunch tomorrow to celebrate S.'s birthday :) Thanks for the shout out. And the photos of food :)
