Victoria's Secret Beauty : makeup haul + review

Anyone who's waited in the checkout line at Victoria's Secret knows that there's more to the boutique than lingerie; there's an impressive beauty section full of fragrance, body products, and makeup. However, it's a lot to take in for the brief amount of time you spent in the queue! Today I'm posting an overview of new makeup products that might make a nice shortlist to explore next time you're in-store.

Victoria's Secret has a new line of nail polish that is packaged in sleek and flat rectangular bottles, a la Butter London. The cap lifts off to reveal a small application handle inside. I have the VS Nail Lacquers in Room Service and Mischief. The nail polish formula is smooth but a bit thick; it becomes opaque after 1-2 coats. Below, you can see the VS Makeup Eyeshadow Quad in Overnight Sensation. It contains a purple and gold combination, along with a liner and highlight shade. The formula has a smooth application, medium pigmentation, and a sheen finish. A number of other pretty color combinations are available too.

The VS Pro Smooth FX Lip Scrub & Balm is a lip scrub and balm in one product. The strawberry scented scrub is in a small pot with a twist-off topper. The top of said topper flips open to reveal a pink lip balm. Victoria's Secret Minty Kiss Lip Shine is a minty lip gloss with lots of shine and good lasting power. It's a good find, especially if you like a mint. The VS Pro Radiant FX Face Illuminator is a liquid illuminator with a subtle pink sheen.

The VS Makeup Graphic Liner Pen is a felt-tip liquid eyeliner that makes liquid lining easy. It reminds me of MAC Penultimate liner. The black color in this liner is well pigmented. The VS Makeup Volume Lift Mascara has a large teardrop shaped wand for volumization. True to name, this mascara does a great job of lifting lashes! It adds good length too. The VS Makeup Kajal Liner is a smudgy black kohl product, good for smoky eyes. Because it is meant to be smudged (like kohls in general), its lasting power is not as strong as your typical eyeliner.

I've swatched the color products from this post below. The VS Pro Radiant FX Face Illuminator is a pink beige with light sheen. The sheen is much subtler than those found in NARS illuminators. It would be hard to overdo this color. The VS Makeup Eyeshadow Quad in Overnight Sensation has four hues: matte black, a purple with sheen, a golden beige with sheen, and a white with sheen. VS Nail Nail Lacquer in Room Service is a taupe beige with silver shimmer. VS Nail Lacquer in Mischief is a shimmery blue teal.

As you can see, there's quite a variety of Victoria's Secret makeup to choose from. My favorites from the bunch were the VS Volume Lift Mascara, VS Pro Smooth FX Lip Scrub & Balm, and the VS Minty Kiss Lip Shine. Thanks for reading! Which of the above products catch your eye? What are your favorite Victoria's Secret Beauty products? When was the last time you stopped by a Victoria's Secret boutique?

Love, Dovey.

  1. I didn't know they had a cosmetic line, but they do also have fragrances, no? It seems that there is no VS here at all so I'm not familiar with the brand at all! I quite like the look of Mischief, it's a gorgeous deep teal!

    1. Hi Teri, Thanks for the comment! They definitely do have a fragrance line; and I think it's more well known than their cosmetics. Mischief is a very pretty teal!

  2. I have the mascara and I love it because it gives me the long, soft, clean and well separated lash look without any clump.
    Mischief looks perfect for winter.
    Thanks for the review Dovey:)

    1. Hi Rocaille, I definitely need lip scrubs to get me through winters!

  5. On the rare occasion that I would stop by Victoria's Secret, I always browsed their makeup section. They actually have such a great range of products. I never got to purchasing anything from them, though, but now I really want to. Mischief reminds me of a Christmas tree ornament! And the quad looks nice. :)

  6. We only have VS at airports in international terminals, so I've only managed to try a fragrance spray and body lotion from VS- the coconut vanilla and amber romance, which I love. Every time I travel internationally I seem to rush and miss out, so annoying!

    1. Hi Emma, Oh, that's exciting that the airports carry them; I don't think I've ever seen a VS in an airport!

  7. I'm loving the packaging! Like Emmabovary I'd need to travel overseas to score any of these products but I'd love to try them out as beauty souvenirs! ;)

  8. I have not tried any of these products. What caught my attention is the nail polishes. It really resembles Butter London's packaging.

  9. I have one VS fragrance, Sexy Little Things Noir, which I love as a casual night time scent. I heard that their body products are made by the same company as B&BW but the scents are more "perfumy"...

Their makeup actually looks pretty good on closer inspection but I think the way they dump their makeup into containers sort of makes them look a little cheapy... perhaps they could re-think their display....?

    1. Hi Beauty Box, thanks for the comment! I've read good things about SLTN--- and I think the packaging is cute too. I do think I get overwhelmed by the bins as well; though I think the organization does depend upon the store somewhat

  10. Victoria's Secret is an almost unknown entity to me- as a lingerie or makeup company. Aren't they opening a London store soon?

Those nail varnishes look interesting, can anyone tell me what sort of price point and quality level they are?

    1. Hi Mopsy, thanks for the comment! I do believe they either have a London store, or will open one soon! I actually do not know the price point of the polishes and they're not sold online, unfortunately :-/

  11. I've never purchased VS makeup and it still doesn't interest me much. I've heard good things about the lip scrub, so there's a chance I'll treat myself to that one day. But for now I stick with a toothbrush. Mischief catches my attention as I've been really drawn to deep turquoise and teal nails lately. Often I don't pay much attention to brands that start with one type of product and add on other categories. I'm the same way about The Body Shop despite everything being skin related - I love their skin care, but don't have a desire to try their cosmetics.

    1. Hi Kadvakarela, to be honest, I haven't used it very often, since I've been skipping the highlighting step a lot recently! It's a pretty pink, but definitely on the subtle side.

  13. I like the nail polishes, apart from that I don't use Illuminator.
