Butter London Shandy and Butter London Tea & Toast nail lacquer (Starkers Collection) review + comparison swatches

Butter London has long been known for being colorfully daring. Their recent collection however, is all about baring! I've been anticipating the Butter London Starkers collection ever since catching wind of it from the La Perla Autumn/Winter 2013 runway. The Butter London Starkers collection consists of three nude nail lacquers : Shandy, Crumpet, and Tea & Toast. I have a review and swatches of Butter London Shandy and Butter London Tea & Toast to share with you today, courtesy of Butter London!

The formulas of both Butter London Shandy and Butter London Tea& Toast are smooth, streak free, and quick drying. The shades are so heavily pigmented that even one coat could be enough!

The Starkers collection colors remind me of some foundations. Butter London Shandy is a peachy nude (think of it as a cool-toned shade like the Chanel Beige Rose series). Butter London Tea& Toast is a warm tan color (like the Chanel Beige Ambré series).

Nude nail colors can really run the gamut of shades, so I've included some color comparisons to better demonstrate the colors. You can see that Butter London Shandy is not nearly as peachy as Orly Sheer Pêche (which I've layered thickly for effect), and it's not a traditional beige nude like Sephora by OPI Going Nude Eh?. You might say it's somewhere in between! Butter London Tea & Toast is similar to OPI San Tan-Tonio, but it's slightly warmer and has more red tones. Tea & Toast is significantly lighter than NARS Bad Influence.

Butter London Shandy and Butter London Tea & Toast nail lacquers ($15 each) are delightful additions to my nail lacquer collection. The colors are fun and the formulas are well done. I'm particularly fond of Shandy; its peachy-coolness is a nice departure from typically warm or beige nude nail colors. The Starkers collection is available at Butter London and other beauty retailers. The whole set is also available at Goop for $40. Thanks for reading! Have you tried or eyed the Butter London Starkers collection? What Butter London polishes have you tried recently?

Love, Dovey

  1. These both look like great shades! I really like the look of Shandy, though. I'm still enjoying the colours from Butter's Sweetie Shop collection at the moment, and I recently picked up Teddy Girl and Primrose Hill Picnic, which are both pretty shades. I only discovered the brand fairly recently, but I really am enjoying the colours I've tried from Butter so far, and the formula seems to wear really well, too.

  2. I still haven't tried anything from Butter London, though there are shades I've been eyeing forever! These are what I call the new nudes, and I like them! They're clean and classic, but at the same time there's some personality about them ;) Nice to see your hand too, Dovey!
