The smelliest shoebox

Baby Bird has a tendency to move her doggie toys, pile them up, and sit gloatingly on top of  them. The toys never stay in one place for long, else something should happen to them when she's away. Lately I've come to the realization that the two of us are not so different. Like a dog and its bone, I am constantly digging up my perfume samples and moving them around. The result is that I have fragrance leaflets poking out from everywhere. I've got them stuffed in the fridge, shopping bags, on my desk, in my dresser, and on my vanity. The pendulum always swings between preservation (in the fridge) and practicality (out for use). In an attempt for organizational normalcy, I designated my best-looking shoebox (it's dark brown with the Cole Haan weave pattern) for my fragrance sample collection. Now, when I open my box, I find a dancing rainbow of colors and scents. It's much like a secret treasure trove. I love my new shoebox organizational scheme, but I do wonder how long it will last. The instinctual tendencies that cause me to collect, pile, and shuffle around my perfume samples already have me wondering if I should just toss everything back in the fridge! Thanks for reading! Where do you store your fragrance samples? Do you have any bizarre beauty storage tendencies? What kind of things do you share in common with your pet?

Love, Dovey.

  1. Haha, I loved reading this post! You know, I kinda have the same problem with my samples, it's seriously getting out of control! But the shoebox idea is rather brilliant, I must try this myself. Right now they don't really have a place, they are literally everywhere!

  3. Very cute idea! I take mine out of the cardboard and store them in a crystal votive holder on my bathroom counter. I love samples :)

  4. This is so cute! I used to store all my sample and backups in these pretty boxes I got from buying stationary cards. They're all scattered around my room now though, so I should find a nice box for them again. :D

  7. I also have a lot of perfume samples, I store them in cardboard boxes (mostly in lilac colours) I got from a stationery store. U sed to store them in a shoebox as well. I also really like the smell, when I open my box :D / Claire

  9. That's a good idea Dovey. I put my perfume samples in a pouch and that pouch smells weird now. There's too much mix of scents. However I still love to open that pouch and stroll my perfume samples collection :)

  10. Last year I got a large pretty blue bowl/mug to display samples in so that I'd be sure to see it and keep testing them out. Unfortunately I reach for my regular staples most days.

  11. lol, smelly shoebox! :) i like that. I have all my fragrance samples in a section of a drawer of my helmer! I need to use them more often! I just went through and cleaned out a lot of them to give away to friends too! :) I wish there was a better way to store fragrance samples but oh well! (Although i do recall some perfume blogger had a really intense sample storage solution! hmm....!)
