Betsey Johnson Too Too Pretty Eau de Parfum review

With one glance at the Betsey Johnson Too Too Pretty Eau de Parfum folio, one can already imagine the charming pink scent inside. 'Too Too Pretty' is a lighter and more approachable variation of the original Betsey Johnson 'Too Too' fragrance. Both are quite new; they debuted in 2012 and 2011, respectively. The fragrance's packaging is depicted on the cover of my leaflet: a fanciful pink tutu trimmed with shiny sequins hugging the waist of a bustier shaped bottle. The overall effect is very pink and very Betsey Johnson.

Betsey Johnson Too Too Pretty is a playful fruity floral scent. The intended notes include: fresh waterlilies, sparkling cassis, lemon blossom, osmanthus, golden gardenia, pink grapefruit flower, skin musk, whipped vanilla, and blonde woods. The dominant opening notes are grapefruit (the fruit) and gardenia (the floral). The silky perfume of gardenia smooths over the bright grapefruit, resulting in a playful but not overly effervescent scent. After the fruity floral burst has waned, a yummy vanilla and cassis combination smooths over the scent like icing. Musk and the lightest touch of woods whisper at the bottom. The overall effect is smooth, light, and well blended.
Betsey Johnson Too Too Pretty Eau de Parfum is perfect for the young at heart and pink in spirit. It promises a fruity floral 'pink' scent, and that's what you get. The pairing of gardenia and grapefruit is inspired; the gardenia adds of a touch of elegance that tempers the eternally optimistic grapefruit; it's happy, but not sparkling out of control. Overall, the notes blend together facilely, sweeping you up into twirl of 'pretty'. Thanks for reading! Have you tried any Betsey Johnson fragrances? What pink scents have you tried recently?

Love, Dovey.

    1. Hi Lena, the Betsey Dresses sound wonderful--- she certainly has a loud yet whimsical character to her line. I have a couple of purses, but no clothes!

I love her clothing designs! I wonder how sweet this is? I am not one for gourmand fragrance.

    1. Hi Michelle, Thanks for the comment! I think it is a bit sweet in the opening thanks to the grapefruit; the vanilla that comes secondarily is quite gourmand (or yummy) as well.

  5. I love Betsey Johnson fragrances for their packaging but unfortunately the juice in them is too ordinary for me... Do you know her namesake perfume has with the amazing pink fan-like cap? http://www.amazon.com/Betsey-Johnson-Women-Parfum-Spray/dp/B000P41ES8 I think that is an awesome design....;-)

    1. Hi Beauty Box, I do think you're right--- the scents are very much crowd pleasers. Thanks for the link on the original BJ; it jogged my memory. I remember when that came out and thinking the topper was so cool too!
