Little luxuries for stress relief

I should be tooling away on my project, but I have an itchy trigger finger when it comes to photographs. I decided to oblige myself with a couple of camera phone pics. Today I'm sharing some of the products that give me some stress relief. When I'm busy, I gravitate towards bath and body products with scents, textures, and fragrances. These little luxuries for the senses are more keenly appreciated during these times.

Some of the things I've been reaching for are:

1. Dior Addict 2 - This is my most used fragrance. It's a strong feminine, floral, sweet, and very optimistic scent. It's young, but I think it still represents my personality quite well.
2. DKNY Be Delicious - I've spritzed this once in a while since it's apple season. It's more of a simple fruity tomboy type scent. Not my usual MO, but it's good to mix things up.
3. Fresh Soy Face Cleanser - I rediscovered this from my skincare stash. It's a very gentle cleanser with a lot of slip and a clean cucumber scent. The slip allows me to massage my face longer without tugging. I really like the scent too. This cleanser is not a heavy duty cleanser though! I only use it after my makeup has been completely removed or in the mornings.
4. LUSH Tea Tree Water - This is an astringent spray with tea tree and juniper. I'm not sure how effective its blemish fighting capacity is, however the smell and feeling is relaxing. A spritz on my face is a nice picker-upper while I'm working.
5. LUSH Ocean Salt - I love this salt and lime scrub. It's clarifying, and massaging. I love it.
6. Shu eyelash curler - I'm obsessed with my lashes. No matter what, I need to curl them and apply tons of mascara. Then I feel ready to tackle whatever comes my way!

Thanks for reading! I've got to get back work, but I'll check back to see if there are comments =). Do you go scent and spa crazy during tough times too? I'm fascinated to know what scents people like. It says so much about their personality. I'm obviously a pink bottle type girl. Mr. Lovey is a woodsy type guy. What about you?

Love, Dovey.

  2. Cute post! I am one that likes a bit of musk in my florals. I have now discovered oud and I love it. It can be heavy for day but these woodsy or musky scents do well with my body chemistry.

I found a mascara that seems to be working well for me. I'll be posting soon.

I need a eye lash curler. I just hate that you pretty much have to replace it once the pads wear down!

  3. LOL! I just pulled out my tube of Fresh Soy cleanser!!! I love the scent and how gentle it is. My Chanel was drying me out a little so I switched things up a bit. I'm using the Soy cream too (the jury is out). I love spa-ish scents as well. Thanks for more temptations.... looks like I need some Lush face spray in my life xx

ps hope Baby Bird is doing well <3

  4. Hi Dovey :) I usually go perfume-crazy in the winter! I think the chilled air makes me long for the smells that come out naturally in Spring, Summer, and Fall. Thanks for sharing, even though you're stressed!

  6. I do love a bit of a woodsy scent too like Hugo deep red which I used to love! Now I'm in love with J'adore. I got a bottle for my birthday in June (80ml) and I'm already half way through!

I go spa crazy when I'm stressed out just to avoid what I really have to do really! Like when I was working on my dissertation.... I used to spend 10 minutes working and the rest doing my nails or something!

  7. laitae - thank you and welcome! I love the art posts too. I hope I'll time to do more.

Lexi- I think a little musk is nice too. I'm really excited for your mascara review =)

Jeanie - that's awesome!! I guess we think alike =) Baby Bird is great. I hope your furbabies have been doing well too.

Sarah- I think that makes a lot of sense. The scents are pretty absent in the non-summer months.

Kelly - you do seem like a DKNY type of girl =)

Carla- I can totally relate. I need to give myself a new pedi now, hehe. I love J'Adore too. It's a really beautiful scent.

Jamilla- I haven't smelled it, but Fresh + Sugar + Lemon sounds like a winning combo!

  9. I've been itching to try Lush's salt scrub, but I've heard from many people that it's REALLY abrasive. With my sensitive skin I'm nervous that it might be more harmful than helpful. Do you find it really rough?

  16. Meredith - thanks!

Jessica- I think it would probably be to abrasive for you! It is definitely on the rougher end, which I like, but not everyone will!

Alex- I keep using Tea Tree water. I'm kind of addicted now.

Laura jean - agreed. I want to look more into their lotions!

Penelope and Jayelle - awesome! I actually look forward to using it every day =)

    Tasha- thank you!!!

Rola - Very interesting! I've never been able to pull of those really complex scents. I haven't smelled Guerlain's fragrances before, but I'm curious since many people seem to like them
